Design has the power to make people feel at ease, even in life’s most challenging moments. I was honoured to work on Bobby’s Hospice, transforming patient rooms, the entryway, kitchen, and communal spaces to create environments that are both beautiful and functional.

Creating a Calm, Supportive Environment

The goal of this hospice project was simple: create spaces that feel peaceful, welcoming, and functional. Every design choice, from colour palettes to furniture layouts, was made with patients, families, and staff in mind.

Patient Rooms: A Home Away from Home

We refreshed 10 patient rooms, focusing on:

  • Soft, calming colours to reduce stress

  • Greenery and natural elements to bring warmth and life

  • Functional layouts and smart storage for comfort and convenience

  • Textiles and decor that make rooms feel personal and home-like

Each patient room was designed to be a serene sanctuary, blending aesthetics with care-focused functionality.

Entryway: A Warm Welcome

The entry sets the tone for every visit.

  • Clean, bright finishes

  • Natural greenery

  • Warm, inviting decor accents

A welcoming entryway helps families feel reassured and comforted from the moment they arrive.

Kitchen & Communal Spaces: Supporting Connection

The kitchen and communal areas are where families gather and share moments together.

  • Open, airy layouts for easy movement

  • Durable yet home-like furnishings

  • Calming textures and accents for a peaceful atmosphere

These spaces are designed to foster connection, reflection, and comfort.

Bathrooms: Functional & Thoughtful

Even small spaces matter. In each bathroom, we added:

  • Smart storage solutions

  • Streamlined, accessible layouts

  • Simple, calming finishes

The design supports comfort, dignity, and ease of use for patients and families alike.

Why This Project Matters

Working on Bobby’s Hospice reminded me that great design is more than aesthetics. It’s about creating spaces that support well-being, comfort, and peace. I’m proud to have helped the hospice team craft environments that make a meaningful difference for everyone who visits.
